VIETNAM 2012 (30 Photos, 0 Comments : Last updated 7/5/2012) Another unforgettable dental operation for DDS4Kids team! We came from different parts of North America and together we rolled our sleeve up and served hundreds of elementary school children all day long, day after day in different villages, only stopped for a short lunch break. We worked extremely well together, had to work hard and fast so all the children in each school were seen. We had the most fun mixed with an unmeasurable amount of deep satisfaction and personal reward.
VIETNAM 2011 (20 Photos, 0 Comments : Last updated 7/31/2011) We came from Ottawa - Canada, North Carolina and Tennessee - USA, London - England, Cologne - Germany, Tel Aviv - Israel, and Saigon - Vietnam to join hand providing free dental care and dental education for children and families living in deep poverty. Our team traveled to 11 remote villages in the province of Tien Giang, Long An, and Phan Thiet. One of the most endearing memory of this trip was the day we had to cross two rivers to reach a remote island, at the first river there was a ferry that can take vehicles across to the island. Then we had to drive a long way on this island to reach the other side where we had to unload all of our supplies in a large truck and 2 vans onto a small old ferry. We had to form a human chain from shore to the ferry. Once the ferry took us to the second island, 1 mile wide by 6 mile long, we walked to the school, everyone carry some supplies, the school teachers rode their scooters to the shore to help us with the rest of the supplies. It was one of the smallest community we have served, everyone is most kind, gentle, appreciative, and the children are very well behaved and adorable. At the end of the day, it was pitch black when we packed up, we took the old ferry to return to the other shore. The tide had changed and the ferry could not dock close to shore so all of us rolled up our pants, took off our shoes, waded through the water and mud (while some one joked about water snakes and leeches) formed a human chain and loaded the remain of our supplies back onto the waiting vans and truck. The memories of that evening by the Mekong River in moonlight will forever stay with us and enrich our lives. Thousands of children were served at each village, and thousands of families received household gifts and the needed knowledge to help themselves as they participated in the health education sessions our team provided every where we went.
Vietnam 2010 (20 Photos, 0 Comments : Last updated 8/22/2010) It was another successful dental operation for our team. We are dentists, dental students, and non-dental volunteers from the US, UK, Italy, Canada, Australia, and Vietnam. We worked side by side with the local Red Cross staff treating 200-300 children a day. Our team traveled to 9 remote villages in Tien Giang and Long An provinces. To reach some village elementary schools we have to cross rivers on ferries and sometimes, walked the rest of the way when there is no road wide enough for our vans. Everywhere we go, we also provide dental education sessions and gifts of useful household items to hundreds of family with children under 5 years of age. There is nothing more satisfying than to be able to help the children and families of farmers, labor workers, people who have very little, who truly deserve our help, and who are grateful for our effort. We are looking forward to VN 2011 with another international team of volunteers.

VIETNAM 2009 - DENTAL RELIEF OPERATION (12 Photos, 0 Comments : Last updated 1/31/2010) We do the same every year when we traveled to VN, in every village we reached, every child we treated, it is the same work, day after day, and year after year, yet every mission trip is filled with excitement and joy. Every year, we try to reach the distant villages that no team has ever been, we spent hours on the dirt road, crossing rivers by boat and ferry, we come to where the children live, in their rural towns, in their elementary schools, we come to say that "YES WE CARE". Our VN 2009 team consisted of volunteers from the US, Canada, and VN. We helped each other, working closely everyday to make seeing 300 kids or more a day possible, what a team. If you see us work, it's like seeing our hearts dance..... In the tropical heat of the long days we treated a sea of school children in our make shift clinics: an exam station, a waiting table where the kids play with puzzles and coloring books while waiting for their turn, 2 stations of fluoride treatment, 2 stations of surgery, 1 station of sterilization, 1 station as pharmacy, and one station as gift package pick-up. Behind the scene we are lucky to have a team of dedicated helpers who boil water to make milk for our patients, get hundreds and hundreds of gift packages ready, cook lunch for our team, bring us drinks and snack during the long day when we had no time to stop for break. Actually there is no break, we start working the minute we reach the school, and we only make a short stop for lunch and then go on until the last kid is treated and there is no more daylight. We travel over 10,000 miles to get to these villages, and we want to help the most kids as we could, that is all to it.
VIETNAM 2008 - DENTAL RELIEF OPERATION (15 Photos, 0 Comments : Last updated 3/26/2008) An incredible trip with 7 volunteers from the US and 1 from the UK and 4 from Saigon. VIETNAM 2017 - BEYOND DENTAL RELIEF (5 Photos, 0 Comments : Last updated 4/23/2017) Dental relief services are not about removing badly infected teeth and treating dental diseases. It is truly about community empowerment with basic dental health education, it's mainly about disease prevention and having healthy dentition, because good dental health is good general health, and HEALTH is the most valuable thing in life. Our dental health education program for elementary school children is reaching to tens of thousands of children all year round, school year after school year after school year, we will continue to reach out to new schools each year as we have the last 25 years in Vietnam.
