This is the second year in a row I went to Viet Nam with DDS4Kids.
I really like the organization's philosophy for giving dental treatment to children in the under-served areas.
Every year, we go to schools in remote villages to give fluoride applications and to remove painful or infected teeth for the children. One grade 4 boy told me that he was so happy that our team came to his school because for the last few months he had been taking painkiller for his toothache. His parents are farmers who cannot afford the dental treatment, and even if they could, the closest dentist is about 2 hours away from the village.
Another important vision of DDS4Kids is preventive dentistry. We also went to small villages to reach out to the families with young children, before they reach school age, to give them the toothbrushes and useful gift of household items and to educate them about dental health. For the schools we visited, our team in Vietnam follows up several times during the year to provide more dental supplies and education.
With this little help we could make a difference in some children's life and hopefully, year after year, DDS4Kids could help better the dental health of the next generation.

Dr. Ngo thi Thanh Ha, Ottawa, Canada.

*I consider myself very blessed to have Dr. Ha's support and friendship.  The children of Vietnam also know how lucky they are to have Dr. Ha's loving heart and caring hands.  Not only that Dr. Ha rolls her sleeves up and worked so hard in the tropical heat, sitting on hardwood benches to see hundreds of kids each day, and spreading her good sense of humor to all around, she also inspires her circle of family and friends at home to help with many special need children, donating money for medication, for needed surgery, for wheelchair, she is always ready to help.  We look forward to many more dental expeditions with Dr. Ha in the years to come.
