I have been thinking about what I can say about the trip and it's so hard to put the experience into words. It was such a life changing experience. I was asked in one of the dental interviews to tell them in one sentence what I learned about dentistry while I was there and I answered them, "I learned how loving and caring dentists truly are." I know that sounds cheesey, but it's true. Everyone thinks dentists cause pain and are in it for the money and all that jazz, but going on the trip opened my eyes that I am not the only person who wants to be a dentist and give back. There are many dentists out there who have such a big heart. You just need to make a choice to help and give back and you will be able to find so many opportunities everywhere. I am just so greatful that I got a chance to see that I can make a difference. It is incredible how giving just a couple of weeks of my life can change so many people's lives. Yes, we only changed a handful of lives, but it was still a handful of lives that we changed. Making a differnce in the world, a little at a time. I know a lot of people say this, but the experience made me realize how blessed I truly am. I don't take as many things for granted anymore. I came home with so much new knowledge, so many new friends and wonderful memories. And I left there a piece of my heart and will continue to go back and add to it. I constantly encourage people to go on a mission trip hoping that it will help create our loving and caring dentist of the world. I especially encourage people to do this mission trip because it is not only well organized, but your presence, Lan, made it an AMAZING experience. You taught me so much about my Vietnamese heritage, the culture, the people, the food .... boy did I eat a lot. You have changed my life so much and I have gained such a wonderful friend. I am so glad I went on this trip. Thank you for everything Lan!
